Buying a used fridge in Dubai: what to check

Compare measurements, cooling, door seals and purchase terms before choosing a second-hand refrigerator.

Measure the kitchen and the access route

Record the width, height and depth of the installation space before looking at a refrigerator. Allow the ventilation clearance required by its manufacturer, and check how the doors will open. Measure doorways, lift entrances and tight corners on the route into your home. Ask for the exact model and external dimensions of the unit you are considering, not just its advertised capacity.

Ask about cooling and visible condition

Request recent interior and exterior photographs. Look at shelves, drawers, door alignment and seals, and ask about known cooling issues or unusual noise. Where a demonstration is arranged, discuss how cooling performance will be checked. A clean appearance is useful, but it does not establish that the refrigerator works correctly. Confirm any missing accessories or damage before discussing a final price.

Confirm the complete purchase arrangement

Ask which particular refrigerator the price covers and whether transport, placement or other services are included. Warranty and returns must be confirmed for the transaction rather than assumed. Keep the item description and agreed terms in your messages or receipt. Share your Dubai area when enquiring, then provide detailed address information privately when needed for an agreed arrangement.
